RecordlyPro vs Screen Studio
Screen Studio is a beautiful macOS app. RecordlyPro runs in the browser and keeps going after the render.
Screen Studio made automatic zoom famous: record a screen, get smooth camera moves that follow your cursor, export a video that looks produced. Its motion quality is the benchmark RecordlyPro measures itself against, and we say so on the landing page.
The question is where that polish happens and what comes after. Screen Studio is a native macOS application; the recording and the render stay on your Mac and you leave with an MP4. RecordlyPro runs in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc on any desktop operating system, renders on a server in Frankfurt and then continues with the parts Screen Studio never set out to do: captions in twelve styles, an AI title and chapters, a share page with analytics, vertical clips, and publishing to YouTube from the app.
Rendering quality
Screen Studio’s cursor motion and zoom easing are the standard. RecordlyPro zooms on every click with smooth easing, on tab recordings from the real click positions and on whole-screen recordings from on-server activity detection. If you are on a Mac and only need the file, Screen Studio is a fine choice.
Platform
Screen Studio needs macOS. RecordlyPro works on Windows, Linux, ChromeOS and macOS in a Chromium browser with nothing to install, which matters for teams where not everyone has a Mac.
After the render
Screen Studio ends at the export. RecordlyPro continues with captions from its own speech model, AI chapters, Shorts, a share page with lead form and analytics, a blog post or step guide, and YouTube publishing.
Camera and layouts
Both record a camera bubble. RecordlyPro adds side-by-side layout, live switching with keys 1/2/3, a teleprompter and a follow-window for vertical recordings.
Data
Screen Studio keeps everything on your machine, which is the most private option there is. RecordlyPro stores on its own server in Frankfurt, Germany, deletes on request and never sends audio to a third-party API.
Price
Screen Studio is a one-off licence per Mac. RecordlyPro is a subscription with a free plan (60 minutes a month, watermark) and Basic at 16.99 € a month, which includes hosting, share pages and publishing.
Verdict
Choose Screen Studio if you are on a Mac, want the very best cursor motion and only need the exported file. Choose RecordlyPro if you are on Windows or Linux, do not want to install anything, or want captions, chapters, a share page and publishing included rather than handled in three other tools.
